Drying and Preserving Flowers and Herbs for your crafting project.

A large garden is not necessary in order to gather flowers and greens for crafting. Many colorful and fragrant flowers can be grown in window boxes or pots of flowers, lavender and herbs located in a sunny area of a room. Miniature roses can be grown on a sunny windowsill. If you have neither the room nor time to grow your material for you flower crafting project, most local supermarkets carry flower bunches that can be used for drying. But, if you are someone that is on the run all day and you don't have the time to shop in person for your flowers, we are partners with several floral vendors that will deliver your flowers to your door and some even offer the time and day for your delivery.
We are partners with the most popular and trusted names in garden suppliers as well.

    Harvesting Flowers and herbs

The best time of the day to collect your herbs and flowers for drying is after the morning dew has dried completely but before the midday sun has begun to wilt them. Leave at least 2 or 3 inches of stem, and try to collect flowers in deferent stages of bloom. It is best to gather and dry more materials than needed to allow for breakage

    Tips for air drying roses

Enjoy cut roses as they open, then when they reach a full-blown stage, remove them from the water, cute a few inches from the stem, and hang them upside down to dry; this will ensure a better shape

    Air Drying

A warm, dry area with low light is all that is required for successful drying. Special drying racks are available, but a few nails in the wall will do the job quite nicely. Simply combine 6 to 10 stems in a bundle. Secure them with string or a pretty ribbon, and hang them upside down to dry.
