    About All In Favor

Who are we and where do we come from?

First of all we aren't a "we" at all, we are an "I".
The concept of All in favor started when my baby sister got pregnant 16 years ago and I was in charge of the favors for her shower.
At that time I was working in a factory full time and putting myself through school, full time, to become a medical assistant.
My rent was just about all I could handle and my car payments were eating up the last few dollars of my paycheck and there was now way on Gods green earth that I could afford to buy over 36 favors for her baby shower. At least not like the ones I was able to buy for my other sisters bridal and baby showers before I had a car note and books to buy.

So, I went down to the local dollar store, where everything cost, you guessed it, a dollar. There I found packages of straw hats, 12 in each, so I grabbed 3. Then I found packages with magnet disks, again 12 in each, I'll take 3, thank you. A few aisle down I found spools of narrow ribbon, lace and stringed pearls, so I grabbed up one of each. Not too bad, I thought. I was surprised to find a package of glue sticks for the glue gun I already had at home. I thought to my self " hey, I think I can do this".
The total cost with tax included was under $12. There goes my Friday night out...but that's OK.

For her baby shower favors, I wrapped and glued lace around the brim of the straw hats and decorated where the head part meets the brim with the ribbon and remaining lace, then glued the string of plastic pearls over the lace and ribbon. I did run out of the supplies from the dollar store. I mean, after all, how much did I think I was going to get for a dollar? So with the remaining hats, I just used Christmas bows that I had unstapled and very carefully, stripped sections that I could use on the hats. I finished these little masterpieces off by gluing one of those small disc magnets to the inside of the brim and called it a favor.
I purchased a "how to make favors" book and received some other books as gifts from family members and started making little trinkets, they aren't favors if you keep them for your self.
I was getting much better at this favor making thing, after a while and, although I had graduated with honors, I was still working in a factory type setting. At least this one was a clean room for a semiconductor factory. It was there in the back of the clean room that I decided I wanted to start my own business.
I wanted to get a place where I could make favors for a living. I would call my business" All In Favor" and make millions.
I talked this over with my friend as we waited for our machines to finish their cycles. She was almost on board with me, almost. I couldn't offer her medical insurance, so there goes that idea.
I continued to make favors for family members. I made beautiful heart-shaped cushioned frames with ribbons, pearls and small silk flowers and magnet backing for another sisters baby shower.
Multy-layerd potpourri sachet balls, accented with silk and dried flowers and ribbons and pearls for an aunts wedding favors.
Small frames wrapped in tulle and ribbon with silk flowers for my grandmothers wedding...yes my grandmothers wedding. You read it correctly.
And my own wedding favors, decorative heart-shaped bottles with dried flowers and scented oil inside. Topped with wax and ribbon, string pearls and silk flower accents around the neck...very pretty. I also made my own center pieces.

I had yet to make my millions. As a matter of fact I only made $100 off of my aunts favors and that was to cover the materials mostly, so I actually only made roughly $35. But with all the money spent on the materials for all the other favors, I was in the whole when all was said and done.
It appeared that my dream of making people happy and events special with my favors had gone up in smoke. There would be no business called "All in favor".
Then I was introduced to the wonderful world of the Internet. Yippy! There is a chance. "I'll make favors in my basement and sell them on line". That was the new Idea and it was going to work. I purchased all sorts of material for all sorts of events...baby showers, bridal showers and weddings. Oh, man this was going to be great!!! Until I realized that it wouldn't be that simple, no not at all. You see there is only one of me doing all these favors and the Internet reaches millions of people. How could I possibly make deadlines if I get too many orders? But I already bought the name "All in favor" and I didn't want anyone else to have it. It was my baby, well my husband bought it for me, but it was still mine!
So, now I had to figure out what to do with this name.
I had it up as a shopping mall for a little while displaying products from affiliate programs. But it had nothing to do with my beloved favors or crafting hobby.
So I revamped the site and got all new advertisers. Everything seemed like it was going to work. I would put products up for people to purchase for their projects and I would still be, in a round about way, in the favor and crafting business.

But putting product up on my site is tough, though. The advertisers discontinue things or change the product numbers and that just leads to dead links. Some, like Denver fabrics, an old advertiser, quit affiliating or come off line all together. I'm still figuring out the best way to set up the site and the best advertisers to have and how best to promote them.

Maybe I'll just put projects online and list the advertisers that sell the supplies needed for the projects. That is my new angle anyway. So, I am revamping the site again.
Hopefully soon there will be a blogg-ish type area where myself and other people can submit free projects for other visitors and we wont have to go bopping around the Internet to get our crafting or hobby supplies...

Until then, Happy crafting and I hope you find what you need on my site :o)
